Here's a dress I made Mollie today. A few weeks ago my mom told a friend from church that I've started sewing and she gave me three different jersey baby fabrics! The dress looks a little like a nightgown but I think it looks okay. I wanted to try out a few things I hadn't done before..
I've seen this ruffle technique on a few blogs, and if you know how to gather, it's really easy! You just sew long stitches down both sides of a strip of fabric, gather them on both sides to make the ruffles, pin the strip onto the front of the dress, and topstitch down the center of it.
I also did this "lettuce" edge on the bottom. To do that you zig-zag stitch right on the edge of the hem and stretch the fabric as you sew it.
What could be more comfortable than jersey?
ReplyDeleteAnd what could be cuter than the little ruffled dress? Mollie looks just precious!!

ReplyDeleteWow Caitlin, That is so darling. I love it. You should use that pattern and make Mollie little night gowns. I love night gowns on baby girls. I have even been known to put them on baby boys! But only if they're pink!
ReplyDeleteCaitlin that is soooooooo cute. and Mollie is adorable Ant
